Follow Kittakima Chapter on Twitter

April 9th, 2012  / Author: imasoonerfan

The chapter has started text alerts to remind you of upcoming National, Sectional, Lodge, and Chapter Events. It’s easy to get these alerts, text “Follow KittakimaOA” to 40404.

Twitter is the program being used to send out these text updates and “following” the chapter doesn’t give you a Twitter account or any obligation. Basically, all “Tweets” by the chapter will be forwarded to your texting inbox. You should receive a message saying that you are now following “KittakimaOA” soon after you text the above statement to 40404. The first test of the system worked flawlessly. Some devices were asked for the individual to setup an account, but it’s not required and works without an account.

Seal your Brotherhood

April 6th, 2012  / Author: imasoonerfan

You are receiving this email because Lodge records show that you have been an Ordeal member for at least ten months and are eligible to seal your Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow. Please register in advance at the following link: http://kittakimachapter.org/?page_id=507

Why Brotherhood?

It is said, “In the Ordeal, the Order of the Arrow accepts the new member. In the Brotherhood, the individual accepts the lodge and the ideals of the Order.” As an Ordeal member of the lodge, service to the troop/crew is of utmost importance. Brotherhood membership in the lodge can be attained after completing ten months as an Ordeal member, and gaining an understanding of the lodge program. Advancement to Brotherhood membership is a personal decision, and we recommend that you look over the information on this page, and then refer to your Order of the Arrow Handbook for further detail.

Where/When?

Kittakima Chapter will conduct a Brotherhood Enrichment Class and Ceremony at the Baden-Powell District Webelos Woods on Saturday, April 14th at John Nichols Scout Ranch. The enrichment class will begin at 7pm and the ceremony will begin immediately following the campfire around 9pm. Cost for Brotherhood is $15 which covers the cost of the Brotherhood sash. Please bring cash.

Requirements for Brotherhood Membership

Be an Ordeal member for at least ten months.

Be an active member of your Scout unit.

Be an active, paid member of Ma-Nu Lodge for 2012. You can pay your $10 annual Lodge dues online by clicking here: Pay Lodge Dues.

Write a letter to the Lodge Secretary.

Pay the Brotherhood fee. (See above.)

Participate in a Brotherhood Enrichment class and Brotherhood Ceremony.

Know the signs that show your membership within the Order of the Arrow:

  • The Obligation
  • The Admonition
  • The OA Song
  • The OA Handclasp
  • The Sign of Ordeal Membership

To gain a better understanding of the Ordeal, review these questions:

  •  How did I provide service to my camp?
  • What did I do well, not so well?
  • What did I learn about myself?
  • What did I learn about others?
  • What positive personal experience did I have during my Ordeal?
  • What can I do to make sure others have similar, positive experiences?
  • What did I learn from the ceremonies?
  • How can I use what I learned to benefit my unit?

Once you have reviewed the above items, thought about what you have learned, done, and planned to do, write a letter to the Lodge Secretary.

The Letter

Once you feel prepared to attain Brotherhood Membership, you must write a letter to the Lodge Secretary that includes the following:

  •  Explain what you think the Obligation means.
  • Describe how you have been fulfilling this obligation in your troop/team and in your daily life, and how you have used your understanding of the ordeal to aid in this service.
  • Describe your specific plans to give service in the lodge program.

Stay Informed thru Tweets to your Text Inbox

January 22nd, 2012  / Author: admin

MaNu Lodge now has the ability to send text alerts to remind you of upcoming Lodge and Section/National events. To get these alerts, text “Follow MaNuLodge” to 40404. Although this text alert system is done through Twitter, following the Lodge does not require a Twitter account or any obligation to get one. All “Tweets” by the Lodge will be forwarded to your texting inbox. You should receive a message saying that you are now following MaNuLodge, followed by a message that says “Tweet Test”, which is our first tweet to test out the new system. The first people who tried this out said the system worked flawlessly.  Get connected and stay in touch with what is going on!
